Round 1 Summary

Kent Met season underway!

The Kent Metropolitan League season got underway with the first round of matches scheduled over the weekend; it was something of a slow start with only 10 of the scheduled 20 fixtures taking place (7 fixtures were postponed and 3 conceded). Thanks to the majority of clubs for following the new reporting protocol for results (e-mail to results-metleagues@kent-rugby.org) and big thanks to Ian Sutton for following up to gently remind those who were slower off the mark. Please remember to keep us informed of postponements as well as actual results (including the date the fixture will be played, if known) as we can then keep Pitchero, Kent Refs and GMS in line. GMS is particularly important as this is the RFU's definitive measure of matches taking place, which directly affects clubs' allocation of tickets for Internationals.

Kent 3 Met: Beccs' second string proved too strong for Beckenham 3's with a 40-0 victory; Blackheath Bandits edged a tighter affair at home to Darts Angels by 22-8; in the other completed fixture, Elthamians Bulls won a hard-fought battle with Sidcup 3's by 40-22. Charlton Park 2's vs Southwark Rebels and Alleynians 3's vs Dunstonians 2's were postponed.

Kent 4 Met: Bromley 2's started the season strongly with a 40-5 victory at Dartfordians Saints; Colfeians 3's just edged out Alleyians 4's by 15-12 in the closest game of the weekend and Swanley overcame the challenge of Westcombe Park 3's, 22-5. Park House 2's conceded to Orpington and the game between Beckenham 4's and Shoots was postponed.

Kent 5 Met: Not too much action in this league with the only completed fixture KCH 2's 27-12 victory over Beckenham 5's. Guys and Erith received walkovers against HSBC 2's and Westcombe Park 4's, respectively; Alleynians Devs vs Beccs 3's and Southwark 3's vs Charlton Park 3's were both postponed.

Kent 6 Met: Brocks 2's survived a fightback from Dartford Valley 2's to claim a 40-31 victory (having led 28-0 just before half time); Charlton Park 4's were much too strong for Footscray's second string with a 52-12 victory recorded; Met Police ran out 36-0 winners at Gravesend 5's. Bromley 3's vs Dartfordians Sinners and Shooters Hill 2's vs Langley (formerly RBS) were postponed.
